Breda Leyne

Name and position Breda Leyne
Specialism/s Breda has experience in working with small businesses, especially in the education sector.  She can facilitate needs analysis, business strategy development, improving sales and marketing and designing solutions for skills and learning needs.

Breda has specialised in work based learning and skills development. She has particular expertise in the developing qualifications and developing packages of learning which meet employers skills requirements.

Breda is a specialist in the design and delivery of apprenticeships, and in supporting employer engagement in learning. She is currently working on programmes to promote preparation for work and enterprise in education.
Breda has for eleven years worked with senior managers and leaders within various public sector agencies in defining staff development and career pathways, including sector bodies. As a specialist consultant to the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) since 2004 she has facilitated the Police preparation for the Olympic Games in 2012. She was currently engaged on a quality assurance review for the Olympic related training being delivered by the Metropolitan Police and others. 

As an Associate to KPMG, the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) and latterly the Association of Colleges Eastern Region (ACER) Breda has several years experience promoting a business and employer focussed approach to the delivery of work-based learning. She has delivered coaching, management support, and staff development workshops, using a variety of management development tools. The objective has been to enable learning providers (both colleges and independent learning providers) improve their employer engagement, utilise labour market information to develop strategy and to use process mapping to increase efficiencies and responsiveness.

Breda has been involved in the development of the English Qualification and Credit Framework since its inception and has written a number of qualifications and units. She has contributed to policy and strategy for a range of sector bodies, including Skills for Health, and devised the Sector Qualification Strategy for People 1st the sector skills council for Hospitality, Leisure Travel and Tourism Health and Social Care.

Breda is Prince2 trained and has worked on several different assignments as Project Manager, including within the wine industry in South Africa. She has experience in project planning and tendering within the UK and Europe.
Breda has a background in Justice and started her career in the Probation Service.
Interests outside
of work
Breda is a keen runner and is a member of a local club. She has completed two marathons, several half-marathons and various road and cross–country events.
