Specialism/s Breda has specialised in work based learning and skills development for over 15 years. She has particular expertise in developing qualifications and designing packages of learning which meet employers skills requirements.

Breda is a specialist in the design and delivery of apprenticeships, and in supporting employer engagement in learning. Having supported the development of Higher Apprenticeships in 2012/13 she has been working with the Apprenticeship reform programme in England since 2013, supporting Trailblazer employers and learning providers. She is a Senior Associate with the Strategic Development Network, a partner in the Future Apprenticeships Programme.

Experience

Breda has many years experience working with senior managers and leaders within the public and private sector, defining staff development and career pathway. As a specialist associate to the College of Policing (Formerly National Policing Improvement Agency) since 2004 she facilitated the Police preparation for the Olympic Games in 2012. She is currently engaged as an External Validator for the Direct Entry programmes, having created the work-based assessment strategy and units for both the Superintendents and Inspectors programmes.

As an Associate to KPMG, the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) and latterly the Association of Colleges Eastern Region (ACER) Breda has spent many years promoting a business and employer focussed approach to the delivery of work-based learning. She has delivered coaching, management support, and staff development workshops, using a variety of management development tools. The objective has been to enable learning providers (both colleges and independent learning providers) improve their employer engagement, utilise labour market information to develop strategy and to use process mapping to increase efficiencies and responsiveness.

Breda has written occupational standards and qualifications for both employer bodies and awarding organisations, both in the UK and overseas. She has contributed to policy and strategy for a range of sector bodies, including Skills for Health, and devised the Sector Qualification Strategy for People 1st the sector skills council for Hospitality, Leisure Travel and Tourism Health and Social Care.

Breda has experience in working with small business development can facilitate needs analysis, business strategy development, improving sales and marketing and designing solutions for skills and learning needs.

Breda is Prince2 trained and has worked on several different assignments as Project Manager, including within the wine industry in South Africa. She has experience in project planning and tendering within the UK and Europe.
Breda has a background in Justice and started her career in the Probation Service.
Interests outside
of work
Breda is a keen runner and is a member of a local club. She has completed two marathons, several half-marathons and various road and cross–country events.
